Getting Started
- Download LumiSpend or LumiSpend Student and create an account with your email.
- Your free trial starts straight away — 14 days for LumiSpend, 7 days for LumiSpend Student — with no card needed.
- Confirm your email from the message we send, then follow the short setup.
Subscriptions
- Subscriptions are bought and billed through the App Store or Google Play.
- Changed phones or reinstalled? Profile → Subscription → Restore Purchases.
- To cancel: iPhone or iPad — Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android — Google Play Store → your profile picture → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google through your store account.
Signing In
- Forgot your password? Tap Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen and we’ll email you a reset link.
- Didn’t get our email? Check your spam folder, then try again from the app.
- Use the same email and password on your phone and tablet.
Your Data
- Export everything as a spreadsheet: Profile → Settings → Export All Data.
- If your trial or subscription ends, your records stay — you can still view and export them.
- Delete your account: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. What gets deleted, and how to ask without the app.
Couple Mode (LumiSpend Student)
- Invite your partner from Profile → Household.
- You choose which expenses and goals to share; the rest stay yours.
- One Couple plan covers you both while you’re in the same household.

Which App is Right for Me?
If you earn money from your own work or business and charge GST or pay provisional tax, choose LumiSpend. If you're an international student managing day-to-day living costs, part-time pay and visa work hours, choose LumiSpend Student.
Is LumiSpend Accounting Software?
No. LumiSpend gives you cash-flow visibility and estimates the GST and tax to set aside. It doesn't file returns with IRD — your accountant or myIR does that, and LumiSpend's exports make it easier.
How Does the Free Trial Work?
Your trial starts when you create an account in the app — 14 days for LumiSpend, 7 days for LumiSpend Student — with no card needed. Subscribe any time during or after it to keep adding and editing.
What's the Founding Member Price?
Subscribe to LumiSpend Annual on or before 31 March 2027 and pay $119.99 a year instead of $149.99 — and keep that price for as long as you stay subscribed.
Can I Cancel Anytime?
Yes. Plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings at least 24 hours before it renews.
What Happens to My Data If I Stop?
Everything you've recorded stays yours to view and export. You can also delete your account and its data from Settings at any time.
